Terezi

Jake

I. My Year in Lists - Los Campesinos
Their friendship was built from a distance of 6932.96 miles, based on a mutual mild interest in role-playing, and festered with awfully timed Pesterchum conversations, colorful word documents, and the occasional letter or package. If she was lucky, she’d catch a glimpse of his dark hair and tanned skin, or even better: defined muscles and bucked teeth (all of which are carelessly abused by a low-quality webcam). They were a faulty duo that clashed in the best and worst ways.

They built up a sort of fondness towards each other, itself based on lost arguments and fits of laughter.

II. On the Radio - Regina Spektor
You're not really sure if you should be wishing him a "good morning" or a "good night" since it's such a dreadful hour. You're curled up next to Jake on one of your only unpackaged pieces of furniture (an awful aubergine love seat that belonged to his great grandmother's ex-husband), listening to whatever garbage pop music the local DJs left on while they sleep. You tug at his coffee mug, and instead of giving a teasing whine (for once - he must be tired) he lets you take a sip.

"Good morning," you murmur, smiling, as he kisses a horn.

III. Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Off Her Clothes - Panic! At the Disco
She knew that whoever he had chosen over her, they couldn't compare.

She had a razor-sharp wit unrivaled than others and a way of coaxing what she wanted to hear out of anybody. She deserved more than what he had given her, finding out from a friend that he had been cheating on her for weeks. They broke up, and she kicked him to the curb.

And when he came crawling back to her, saying that it was only ever her that he had really wanted, he would remember what he did as she slammed the door in his face.

IV. What You Know - Two Door Cinema Club
Jake's fingers are interlaced with yours (tightly, albeit not uncomfortably), and you think he must be feeling a bit anxious. His palms are lined with sweat and he keeps reaching up to adjust a runaway piece of hair.

You want to tell him to calm down and stop fidgeting because nothing is going to happen and you're both going to be fine, but you don't blame him for being on edge. The alternate timelines to this - given that things don't go correctly - are unfavorable, at the least.

"I'm not leaving you."

He grins a bit sheepishly, though gratefully.

V. Live Alone - Franz Ferdinand
You’d always found that you were good at being alone. It was easy to be alone. No one bothered you with things that didn’t matter to you, that made your head spin.

Until you met him. You think you regret that day, but you’re not sure anymore.
He liked to travel –explore it all. He swept you off your feet and took your heart with him when he left.

Being alone had never meant being lonely. But without him, you are stricken suddenly by the fact of how alone you really are.

You wished you could be where he was.

I. Melancholy Hill - Gorillaz
He knew that she was settling for him. It was in the way that she kissed him, the way she smiled and laughed. There was a disconnect.

She was amazing. Cunning, and clever. Beautiful. Mysterious and aloof, for all she may have seemed. She was like a dream. A terrible nightmare that he never wanted to wake from. He knew it wasn’t alright. Knew it would only hurt him more in the end, really. But the heart wants, what the heart wants.

But her heart didn’t want him. She didn’t want him like he wanted her.

She was just settling.

II. Soft & Warm - Voxtrot
Fighting with her was nearly pointless. He lost his line of reason, easily trumped by her astounding logic. He could puff out his chest, yell out as loud as he wanted, and frown until his cheeks hurt, but it was all lost on a girl who was literally as blind as lady justice herself.

And so she won every time with ease. And he let himself be corrected, chastised – brought down a peg.

Thereafter, depending on how badly his ego hurt, she would reward him with a smile. Reward him with the knowledge that pride does not a man make.

III. C'Mon (ft. Fun.) - Panic! At the Disco
Jake loved a lot of things about Terezi, but his favorite was her smile. It would light up the night, a beacon bringing him back home.

What would he do without it? He wasn't sure. He didn't know if he could go on if her grin wasn't the first thing he saw in the morning and the last thing he saw at night. There was something enchanting about it, something he just couldn't explain, not for lack of trying.

He could stand to be lost on his way home as long as Terezi and her smile were right beside him.

IV. Shake Me Down - Cage the Elephant
Ever since the destruction of your golden persona, you have been wandering through the dream bubbles. Each of the bubbles are dark, especially at first, but you're surprised at how much light they can shed.

Most of the time, they're memories of people you remember, people who remember you, people you've met, and sometimes, they're of someone completely new.

You don't ever remember meeting a Terezi Pyrope - just as she has no recollection of you - but you talk like old friends and you harbor some delight in knowing that she's still alive.

Sometimes you think that she's the only one.

V. I Am Strong - Polly Scattergood
He wondered whether or not she would come back home this time.

It had been months ago that he had given her the key to his home, his heart. She had thanked him at the time and kissed him on the forehead with a smile.

And it had been the same amount of time since he had seen her last. It seemed like every night he would wait for her, wishing she would come back through the door, but she never showed, and he knew she never would.

She had left with the key and a part of his heart.

"Somewhat Elaborately Arranged Suddenly Pasta Salad" is perhaps the greatest medium I have ever seen.

The drabbles are great as well! I'm especially fond of "Shake Me Down."

Excellent work! c:

suddenly the suddenly pasta salad was actually suddenly pasta salad suddenly.
this is a really good entry!! the songs were chosen and narrated really well (anything with regina spektor already has my love) and the sudden use of suddenly pasta salad in a hso-friendly pasta salad format suddenly makes pasta salad.
all in all, this is a really great entry!! kudos to you guys, good job!

i frickin love you guys oh my god
Normal mode typing, commence now! The FST and the drabble work to emphasize each other's great points, and neither takes the spot light out of the other, creating a delicious multicolor tango. Ehehe. Also, suddenly pasta salad is most definitely the best medium. I'm a glass case of emotions over how creative that is.

Great work!!
